It is a glycol ethers produced by the reaction of ethylene oxide with ethyl alcohol, belonging to the family of glycol ethers known for their balanced solvent properties—combining characteristics of both alcohols and ethers. It is miscible with water and many organic solvents, making it a versatile coupling agent and solvent.
