Introduction:

Potassium carbonate; molecular formula K2CO3; relative molecular weight 138.21.

Property:

monoclinic crystal; white powder, fine granulated crystal or round small ball; relative density 2.428; melting point 891℃; easily soluble in water and aqueous solution is acid; insoluble in alcoho; it has strong hygroscopicity and transfer into potassium bicarbonate after long-term contact with air by absorbing carbon dioxide.

Use:

It is raw material in the production of electronic tube, television kinescope and computer monitors. Optical glass produced with it has better transparency, strength and refractive index. It is also be used to produce welding electrode and current interruption could be avoided. It is also the raw material of food additive as potassium sorbate and monopotassium phosphate. It is composite fertilizer. Combined with soda ash, it can produced dry powder fire extinguishing agent. In addition, it is used in printing ink, polyester, explosive, electroplate, process hides, ceramics and Chemical field.
