Zinc Carbonate is an inorganic chemical compound with the formula ZnCO₃. It occurs naturally as the mineral smithsonite, which often has a yellowish or greenish color due to impurities. However, the commercial product used in industry is typically a synthetically produced, fine white powder.

It is insoluble in water and ammonia but dissolves in acids, alkalis, and ammonium salt solutions. When heated, it undergoes thermal decomposition to form zinc oxide (ZnO) and carbon dioxide (CO₂), a property key to many of its applications.
