Capric Acid, also known as Decanoic Acid, is a medium-chain saturated fatty acid with the chemical formula C₁₀H₂₀O₂. It is a naturally occurring fatty acid found in coconut oil, palm kernel oil, and the milk of various mammals. At room temperature, it appears as a white, crystalline solid with a characteristic rancid odor. It is a member of the carboxylic acid family and is only slightly soluble in water but highly soluble in organic solvents like ethanol, ethers, and chloroform.
