Description

Zinc sulfide is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula ZnS. It exists in two main crystalline forms: sphalerite (cubic) and wurtzite (hexagonal). It is most commonly known as the mineral sphalerite, which is the chief ore of zinc. Zinc sulfide appears as a white to yellowish powder that is insoluble in water but soluble in acids.
