Monothioglycerol, also known as 3-Mercapto-1,2-propanediol, 3-Mercaptopropane-1,2-diol or Thioglycerol (CAS 96-27-5), is a colorless to pale yellow viscous liquid with a mild characteristic odor. Containing both a thiol group and two hydroxyl groups, it combines good water solubility with mild reducing activity. This 98% industrial grade material is a versatile chemical intermediate and reducing agent for cosmetic, biochemical and industrial applications.
