Description

Barium sulfate is a white, odorless, crystalline or amorphous powder with high specific gravity and very low solubility in water, acids, and alkalis. It is chemically inert and non-flammable. It occurs naturally as the mineral barite and can also be produced synthetically as precipitated barium sulfate (blanc fixe), which has higher purity and finer particle size.
